Dr. Peter Martinez – The Rise and Fall of Little Mexico
Los Vaqueros, 2629 North Main

6:00 pm— Reception
6:30pm— Dinner

Dr. Peter Martinez joins us this month to share the story of one of Fort Worth’s first barrios, Little Mexico, which once stood on the current site of the Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus. You’ll learn about what drew Hispanic residents to the neighborhood, who they were, and how New Deal legislation led to their relocation to make way for the Ripley Arnold Housing Project in the 1930s. Dr. Martinez serves as Professor of History at Tarrant County College where he was awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for Exemplary Teaching earlier this year. He’s lived in Fort Worth and researched its history for over 25 years.

Price: $55 per person
The absolute registration deadline is 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2023.
